Okay so… for some reason i’m having such a hard time in this class. I don’t know if it’s because I am struggling learning from an online environment or if it’s because I am just completely not getting the material. In high school, I had the option to take an online government class, (I really did not enjoy government or history or anything like that) so I gladly took advantage of that. Throughout high school I kept a very good GPA and took pride in the grades I had, but for some reason I STRUGGLED in this online government class. From beginning to end I had a problem with how much freedom I had with watching the lectures whenever I wanted and with not having to actually go into class and learn the material. When I got into college I was in a whole new world with figuring out you could get a full degree online if you wanted! I knew I struggled with online classes because I can get lazy at times but I still decided to take this class because it was what fit best with my schedule. Because I am not diligent about watching the lectures and having to teach myself which is something i’m not used to, I think that if I retake this class after this semester I will most definitely take it in person on campus. I definitely am not making an excuse for not performing well, I should have applied myself more to this class but now I at least know for sure my learning preference when taking a difficult class like this. I am saying this because Exam 2 did not go well at all. This makes me nervous because on Slack a lot of people said that they did way better on this exam then the first one. I did better on this one but not anywhere near where I want to be. We haven’t gotten the grades back on this one and that makes me nervous. I also did not apply myself as much as I wanted to because I got distracted with the other classes i’m taking, with all the assignments and exams they’re giving. It gets really crazy at times and hard to focus on just one class. And onwork with COVID it is hard to prioritize school during this time. On the upside, I tried a few test taking tips to calm my nerves like I mentioned in my last blog post and they kind of helped me well taking the exam. One of the examples are to sit with both feet planted into the floor and if you start to feel nervous about not getting a question try to wiggle your toes and focus on that to relax your mind. Another one I learned is to tap and count each of your fingers to your thumb until you feel calm enough to really concentrate on the questions on the exam. I will try to apply myself more for this next exam. I will update you on how that goes. Thank you for reading, good luck! You got this.
Until next time,
